MARATHON VALENCIA.
Flat, fast, by the sea – Valencia is considered the fastest marathon course in the world.
The Valencia Marathon runs flat and fast along the Spanish Mediterranean coast – past the old town of Ciutat Vella, through the trendy Russafa neighborhood and the fishing quarter of Cabanyal, all the way to its spectacular finish at the City of Arts and Sciences.
Since its first edition in 1981, the race has grown from a regional event into one of the most important marathons in Europe. Its near-perfectly flat course and mild December climate make Valencia one of the fastest marathon courses in the world.
As a World Athletics Platinum Label race, the Valencia Marathon now attracts elite athletes and first-time marathoners alike.
Records & Numbers.
In December 2023, Kelvin Kiptum ran a new marathon world record of 2:00:35 in Valencia – the fastest marathon ever run and a historic moment for the sport.
The flat, wind-sheltered coastal course regularly produces personal bests — for elite athletes and recreational runners alike.
Every December, more than 30,000 runners from around the world line up at the start.
