What is the Frankfurt Marathon?
The Mainova Frankfurt Marathon has been one of Germany's most established autumn marathons since its first edition in 1981. Every October, runners from around the world gather in the banking city on the river Main to cover 42.195 kilometres in front of its striking skyline.
The route through Frankfurt
The course runs through Frankfurt's city centre and surrounding districts, past the distinctive high-rise skyline, finishing with an atmospheric run-in at the Römer, the historic town hall square in the heart of the old town.
Key facts
- Distance: 42.195 km
- Date: October
- Finish: Römer, Frankfurt old town
- Notable: one of Germany's oldest and largest autumn marathons, finish in a historic setting
Preparation
The October date usually brings cool, running-friendly weather – great for a personal best, though with some chance of rain. A flexible layered outfit and a clear plan for the start (which is often cooler than the race itself) pay off.
The Frankfurt Marathon as a poster
Upload the GPX file of your Frankfurt Marathon – from Strava, Garmin Connect or Polar – and turn it into your personal poster with the route, distance, finishing time, date and your name. If you still need to export your activity, we show you step by step how to export the GPX file from Strava. No GPS tracking? There's also the Frankfurt Marathon Art Poster – purely typographic, with just your name, time and date.
Prefer typography
over a route map?
The Frankfurt Marathon Art Poster shows your run without any GPS data – just your name, finishing time and date, in three minimalist styles.
Choose between Mono (black, red or yellow) for maximum clarity, Editorial (light paper, magazine style) or Editorial Navy (dark blue, elegant and understated) — all three styles individually personalised with your name, finishing time and date, and printed on premium paper.
